Calcium hydroxide, commonly known as slaked lime or quicklime, is an inorganic alkali compound with the chemical formula Ca(OH)₂ and a molecular weight of 74.09. It is a white powdery solid at room temperature with a density of approximately 2.24 g/cm³. It is sparingly soluble in water (1.73 g/L, 20°C), insoluble in alcohol, but soluble in glycerol and acids. Dissolving in acids releases a large amount of heat. A saturated aqueous solution of calcium hydroxide has a pH of 12.4 (25°C).

4.Environmental and industrial applications: Treatment of acidic wastewater, flue gas desulfurization, or as a raw material for bleaching powder.
